The Codec classes provide mapping between Unicode and 8-bit character encodings. The base class, Codec, provides the entire interface, and a variety of subclasses provide implementation for each encoding, for example, Iso88595Codec implements ISO 8859-5, currently using the 1999 revision of 8859-5.

The selection of encodings is too small still. To extend it, we need test data for more encodings. Please write to info@aox.org if you can provide some.
