POP support in Archiveopteryx
Archiveopteryx has supported POP3 since 1.01.
We support POP (and a few useful extensions) only for compatibility with existing POP clients. But POP isn't well-suited to managing large mail archives, so our focus is on IMAP instead.
POP extensions
We support the following extensions:
- UIDL offers a persistent identifier for email messages.
Clients that
leave mail on server
usually use UIDL. - STLS offers protection against network snooping.
- AUTH=DIGEST-MD5 and other SASL authentication mechanisms are supported, ranging from anonymous login to snoop-safe, replay-safe, challenge/request logins.
